Voting Rights of Persons Deprived of Liberty in Armenia

Armenian citizens held in penitentiary institutions and pre-trial detention facilities retain the right to participate in elections and referendums, except in cases where the law provides otherwise. Who may vote? Persons held in pre-trial detention. Convicted persons serving sentences who retain their voting rights under Armenian law. Who may not vote? Persons who have been deprived of the right to vote by a final court decision in accordance with the Electoral Code. How can a person vote? Voting is organised inside penitentiary institutions through a dedicated polling station established in accordance with the Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia, enabling eligible voters to cast their ballots by secret vote. Remember The right to vote is a fundamental constitutional right. Persons deprived of liberty who remain eligible under the law should be able to exercise this right freely, without pressure or interference.
