Prison Monitoring Group Expands Its Membership

The Public Observers Group exercising public oversight in the penitentiary institutions and bodies of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia announced the admission of new members on November 25, 2025. Following the announcement, membership applications were received, and on February 12, 2026, during a Special Meeting of the Group, a vote was held on the submitted applications. In accordance with Paragraph 26 of the Group’s Regulations, the composition of the Group has been expanded. 🗳 Following the results of the vote, the following candidates were elected as members: Zaruhi Hovhannisyan – New Culture of Justice NGO. Anahit Mkrtchyan – Access to Justice and Dignity NGO. 🗳 Following the results of the vote, the following candidate was elected as a trainee member: Ara Sukiasyan – Children’s Society: Support Center for Children and Youth Initiatives NGO. 🔎 The Group will continue its activities, contributing to greater transparency in the penitentiary system, the protection of human rights, and the promotion of dignified treatment.
